PHOTO: 07 First Prize WinnerAs part of the World Environment Day celebration, the Garden will unveil UNEP's International Children’s Painting Competition (ICPC) exhibition at a special awards ceremony sponsored by Bayer Corporation.

The exhibition will feature works of art from hundreds of student artists throughout the United States, on display in the Garden's Greenhouse Galleries. More than 700 North American students submitted entries this year addressing the theme "CO2—Kick the Habit! Towards a Low Carbon Economy."

Bayer Corporation is a global partner of UNEP, and through its partnership the company also will treat kindergarten through fifth-grade students from Chicago area schools to a Garden visit with Chicago native and hometown hero Dr. Mae C. Jemison. Dr. Jemison is a scientist, educator, and the nation’s first African-American female astronaut.
