TITLE: Trolley Driver – FILLED

PURPOSE:
As both driver and guide, shuttle Chicago Botanic Garden visitors and staff between predetermined locations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
1. Transport visitors, staff, and volunteers between predetermined locations.

2. Monitor Trolley operating conditions and report needed repairs to Visitor Services Manager, Coordinator and Maintenance staff.

3. Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of Trolley, interior and exterior.

4. Proactively communicate and promote Chicago Botanic Garden current events, garden displays and exhibitions.

5. Adhere to program schedule requirements and tour itineraries.

6. Exemplify Chicago Botanic Garden Customer Service guidelines.

7. Maintain professional appearance and professional conduct.

8. As an operator of a Chicago Botanic Garden touring vehicle, demonstrate both a high standard of safety for visitors and a strict adherence to Chicago Horticultural Society rules and regulations.

9. Support the mission of the Chicago Botanic Garden, including research & conservation initiatives.

10. Assist the Manager and Coordinator of Visitor Services in other areas as requested.

SUPERVISES: N/A

COOPERATIVE RELATIONSHIPS: Garden staff, volunteers, and visitors

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must be insurable by the Society, possess a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class C license with P (passenger) Endorsement and a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card. Candidate must present a current driving record for review. Must possess excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as strong presentation abilities. Must have the ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and to endure the physical requirements of operating the touring vehicle, including assisting with the wheelchair lift and its occupant. Day, evening, weekend, and holiday hours available. 5 years or more driving experience is preferred. College degree appreciated.
