TITLE: Officer, Seasonal Security – FILLED
PURPOSE: To serve visitors, members, and staff by maintaining the safety and security of the property and collections of the Chicago Botanic Garden.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
1. Maintain the safety of visitors, employees, and property at the Garden while enforcing Garden rules and regulations.
2. Provide information and assistance to the visitor in a pleasant, professional manner.
3. Work closely with Visitor Services to provide the best information and service for the visitor.
4. Maintain valid certification in CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), the use of AEDs, and Standard First Aid through Garden-provided training.
5. Provide emergency first-aid to employees and to visitors.
6. Prepare accurate and clear reports of accidents, illness, theft, vandalism, or any other unusual occurrences with immediate notification to Security Management.
7. Perform responsibilities specific to each post as assigned: Gatehouse, West Gate, Dundee Gate, Education Center, Front of Gateway, Information Desk, Japanese, Evening, Fruit & Vegetable Garden, etc.
8. Control traffic whenever needed.
9. Make appropriate Security Department vehicle operating and safety checks.
10. Pick up and deliver persons and materials as needed.
11. Assist security management in other areas as directed.

REPORTS TO: Senior Officer, Security
SUPERVISES: N/A
COOPERATIV RELATIONSHIPS: All departments as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: High-school graduate or equivalent; oral and written communication skills. First-aid and CPR training. Licensed driver insurable by the Society. Must be able to lift and carry 25lbs. Must be able to work overtime as required by the operational needs of the department.
