TITLE: Instructor, Science First Lake County

PURPOSE: To aid in the delivery of a hands-on summer science program for students going into grades 7-9, which will take place at the College of Lake County Campus, Grayslake, IL.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

1. Assist Science First program instructors based with classroom and outdoor field activities.

2. Prepare for laboratory and field projects.

3. Work with the Science First students on their daily lessons and projects.

DEPARTMENT: Center for Teaching and Learning

REPORTS TO: Seasonal manager for Science First at Lake County and coordinator of secondary education programs at the Chicago Botanic Garden

SUPERVISES: Students in the Science First program

COOPERATIVE RELATIONSHIPS: Lake County Forest Preserve District

PAY RANGE: $10.00 per hour

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Be available to work for 40 hours/week from June 21 to
July 16, 2010. The ideal candidate will have some experience with middle- or high-school aged children (tutoring, mentoring, volunteer) and knowledge of programs run by the Lake County Forest Preserve District.
