TITLE: Science First, Lake County Assistant Instructor – FILLED

PURPOSE: To aid in the delivery of a hands-on summer science program for students finishing grades 6-8.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
1. Assist the instructors to the Science First program based at Greenbelt Cultural Center with classroom and outdoor field activities.

2. Prepare for laboratory and field projects.

3. Work with the Science First students on their daily lessons and projects.

DEPARTMENT: Center for Teaching and Learning

REPORTS TO: Seasonal manager for Science First, Lake County and coordinator of secondary education programs

SUPERVISES: Students in the Science First program

COOPERATIVE RELATIONSHIPS: Lake County Forest Preserve District

PAY RANGE: $9.00 to $11.50 per hour

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Be available to work for 40 hours/week starting June 22 to
July 17, 2009. The ideal candidate will have some experience with middle or high school aged children (tutoring, mentoring, volunteer) and knowledge of programs run by the Lake County Forest Preserve District.
