This temporary position is in the Production Greenhouses. It entails assisting the greenhouse staff in growing and delivering plants. Desired start date is February 20, 2012.

TITLE: Assistant Grower, Seasonal

PURPOSE: To assist production staff with greenhouse and nursery operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Assist production staff in growing plants through soil mixing,
transplanting, thinning plugs, re-potting, spacing, weeding, pruning,
digging plants, watering, fertilizing, and sanitation.

Work weekends and scheduled holidays under the direction of the
production staff.

Assist staff with the delivery of plants to garden and grounds areas.

Keep work and storage areas clean and organized.

DEPARTMENT: Plant Production

REPORTS TO: Manager, Plant Production

SUPERVISES: N/A

COOPERATIVE RELATIONSHIPS: Horticulture

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: General knowledge of small tools and equipment, some plant knowledge
preferred, but not necessary. Able to serve eight-month work calendar, including weekends. Must be able to lift and carry 25 lbs. Licensed driver, insurable by the Society.
