TITLE: Program Aide – Interpretive Programs – FILLED

PURPOSE: To help oversee weekend seasonal programs for visitors in the Regenstein Fruit & Vegetable Garden, Malott Japanese Garden, English Walled Garden and Model Railroad Garden.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
1. Assist in the preparation, set-up and clean-up of weekday and weekend programs including Discovery Carts, Garden Chef Series, and Plant Giveaway. Prepare and maintain supplies; contact and work with volunteers. (Work takes place primarily at the Fruit & Vegetable Garden.)

2. Interact with visitors, answer questions and facilitate programs as needed.

3. Carry out duties such as data entry, typing, copying and sign making as needed using standard office equipment. Keep participation statistics for reports.

4. Manage temporary program signage each week.

5. Assist with volunteer interpretive programs in Japanese Garden, English Walled Garden and Model Railroad Garden as required.

6. Maintain and refill Garden Guide boxes throughout the Garden.

7. Assist with other projects as needed in Interpretive Programs.

REPORTS TO: Manager, Interpretive Programs

COOPERATIVE RELATIONSHIPS: Interpretive Programs, Visitor Operations, Custodial Services, Security, Education

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Strong organizational and communication skills. Enjoys working with people in an active, energetic atmosphere. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. Position requires periods of walking and standing with light lifting/pushing. Ability to work independently, prioritize work and solve problems. Computer literate. Saturday and Sunday work schedule. Seasonal part-time position: May – October.
