TITLE: Visitor Services Cashier – FILLED

PURPOSE: As a Chicago Botanic Garden cashier, provide outstanding service and ticketing support for the Tram Tour Program and Model Railroad Garden.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

1. In a timely fashion, provide accurate cashiering skills including operating a computerized sales system generating ticket sales in multiple categories and values , coupon redemptions, and the balancing of sales figures for deposit.

2. Exemplify Chicago Botanic Garden Customer Service guidelines and adhere to the Society rules and regulations.

3. Provide attentive and immediate service to visitors.

4. Maintain professional appearance and professional conduct.

5. Remain knowledgeable of Chicago Botanic Garden current events, garden displays and exhibitions. Proactively communicate and promote this information to visitors.

6. Monitor visitor materials and displays within ticketing areas. Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of ticketing area.

7. Maintain a secure cash register.

8. Support the mission of the Chicago Botanic Garden, including research & conservation initiatives.

9. Adhere to program schedule requirements.

REPORTS TO: Manager & Coordinator of Visitor Services

COOPERATIVE RELATIONSHIPS: Garden staff, volunteers and visitors

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Experience working with the public and using a computerized point of sales systems is appreciated. Candidate must possess excellent communication and customer relations skills and have the ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Candidates must be friendly, confident and able to maintain accuracy in an active environment. High school graduate. Day, evening, weekend, and holiday hours available.
