There are many ways of working with us at the garden. For info on jobs, internships or seasonal positions, please visit www.chicagobotanic.org/jobs.
The Chicago Botanic Garden and Northwestern University (NU) collaborate to host a 10-week summer research experience in Plant Biology and Conservation.
In doing so, our program exposes interns to a rich research environment in a small, friendly institution (the Garden), as well as access to world-class facilities (NU).
REU interns experience all aspects of plant biology and conservation research starting with experimental design, data collection and analysis, right through to presenting the results in a symposium at the end of the internship. In addition to hands-on research in the lab or field, interns participate in field trips, workshops and lectures.
REU interns are paired with Garden and NU scientists to participate in research fields including the following:
• Molecular Ecology
• Soil Biology and Biogeochemistry
• Quantitative Genetics
• Ex-situ and In-situ Conservation
• Demography
• Environmental Horticulture
