Plant Science — OUR SCIENTISTS

Marcello Pennacchio, Ph.D.

Ethnobotanist, Conservation Scientist
Grant Project Coordinator

Ph.D., Curtin University of Technology, Australia, 1998

Research Interests

My research interests include documenting indigenous uses for medicinal plants, screening important plants for novel pharmacologically-active compounds and identifying their mechanisms of action, studying the release of phytochemicals and their effects on plants and other organisms (allelopathy) and researching the effects of plant-derived smoke on the germination of seeds of a variety of plant species.
