I am an Assistant Ecologist for all the natural areas at the Chicago Botanic Garden. The natural areas at the Chicago Botanic Garden include the 100-acre McDonald’s Woods, 12-acre Barbara Brown Nature Reserve, 15-acre Dixon Prairie and the 22-acre riparian buffer of the Skokie River. My responsibilities include assisting and implementing the management goals of Senior Ecologist James J. Steffen and Senior Ecologist Joan O’Shaughnessy. Management includes removal of invasive species, controlled burns, planting local genotype plants, nursery maintenance, and seed collection and sowing. Through my efforts, I will be able promote more diversity in our natural areas and limit the number of invasive species.
