plants and climate change
Botanic Garden Conservation International
Report
Coauthored by Chicago Botanic Garden scientist,
Kay Havens, Ph.D., director of the division of Plant Science and Conservation
Given the fundamental importance of plants to life on earth, the study comes at a time when action is essential. Read the analysis of at-risk plant species, learn about links between climate change and livelihoods, and examine the physiological responses of plants to climate change. The paper was presented at the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity in Bonn, Germany. It provides the basis for the work to be done by Botanic Garden Conservation International, whose headquarters is in the United Kingdom, and whose United States office is at the Chicago Botanic Garden.
Filled with charts, graphs, recommendations, reading lists, and studies documenting years of fluctuation in temperatures around the globe, the paper is worthwhile reading for anyone concerned about climate change.
