Tune in to LXTV's 1st Look Chicago (now available off the internet in Chicago)! Actor Harold Ramis tells viewers his choices for the top three places he can't live without in Chicago, including the Chicago Botanic Garden.
Ramis's top picks at the Garden include the English Walled Garden, the Rose Garden, and the Elizabeth Hubert Malott Japanese Garden, all of which are ablaze with midsummer color. Come to the Garden for a walk and see why these are such enthusiastic favorites.
The English Walled Garden invites you to explore its seven romantic garden "rooms" of profuse blooms through a number of entrances or doorways. Plants spill over and soften walkways, walls, and fences; wisteria drapes gently overhead; chairs and benches beckon you to rest and enjoy the surroundings.
June is the month of roses at the Garden, as nearly 5,000 roses from rich reds to pastel perfection inspire and delight visitors and local gardeners alike. A walk through the Rose Garden ends deliciously with an ice cream cone in the cool shade at the Rose Terrace Café.
Complete your tour with a visit to the tranquil Japanese Garden in the long, golden light of evening. Reflect as you stroll its winding paths and listen to the wind in its sculptured pines and flowing grasses. Be restored in the beauty and serenity of the Garden.
