GLENCOE, Ill. (June 20, 2013) – A one-of-a-kind art festival is returning to the Chicago Botanic Garden for the third consecutive year! The festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday, July 6 and 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A special members’ night will be held on Friday, July 5, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The festival has quickly become a favorite for art lovers of all ages. Artists from all over the United States showcase botanic-themed and botanic-made photography, paintings, ceramics, cement, metal, fiber, wood, jewelry, and other pieces. Booths are set up on the Esplanade and overlook the lake and spectacular gardens. Visitors can find remarkable items for purchase, and partake in interactive demonstrations all weekend long. A Family Drop-In Activity Tent will provide hands-on art entertainment for younger attendees. Members’ night will feature special demonstrations as well as a cash bar.
More than 80 artists will be participating in the festival this year. Featured artists include Deborah Armstrong (jewelry), Barbara Beckman (3D functional art), Jim & Sharon Fitzgerald (photography), Beth Forst (painting), and Carlos Page (3D non-functional art), among others. Artists will be on-site discussing their work and answering questions.
The Art Festival is sponsored in part by Blick, The Chicago Tribune, WBBM News Radio, and LiteFM Chicago. Admission to the Art Festival is free. Regular parking fees apply. For more information on the festival please visit http://www.chicagobotanic.org/artfestival.
