Lifestyle Programs — Tai Chi

PHOTO: tai chiOften called meditation in motion, tai chi offers benefits for health, flexibility and peace of mind. People of all ages and physical conditions can learn the movements. Western research over the past ten years has documented some of tai chi's positive effects on improving balance, easing chronic pain, lowering blood pressure, improving cardiovascular functioning, boosting the immune system, and reducing stress. Its fluid movements are based on movements in nature, which makes the Chicago Botanic Garden an ideal location for classes. Tai chi is best practiced in loose clothing and stocking feet or comfortable flat shoes. Dress for the weather when the class is held outside.
