TITLE: Internship, Teen Programs, Center for Teaching and Learning (unpaid internship) – FILLED

PURPOSE: Gain experience in informal secondary education programs with a special emphasis on environmental science and college preparedness.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Coordinate student tracking surveys, including contacting students, mailing information, database management, and data input
  • Research environmental science, college and career development opportunities for students
  • Assist in the creation of Ppt presentations, school meetings and student recruitment
  • Maintain programmatic Facebook page
  • Research environmental science curriculum
  • Assist with office and file organization

DEPARTMENT: Center for Teaching and Learning

REPORTS TO: Coordinator, Secondary Education & Career Programs

SUPERVISES: N/A

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10-20 hrs/wk, Weekdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., February – June
  • Good organizational and computer skills
  • Comfortable cold-calling students, teachers, family members on the phone and interacting via social networking sites
  • Knowledge/familiarity with inquiry-based teaching methods and environmental science curriculum
  • Experience working with students in grades 8-12
  • Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with diverse people, good communication and interpersonal skills preferred
