Conservation and Land Management (CLM) Internship
TITLE: Internship, Spring Science Sleuths, Center for Teaching and Learning (unpaid internship)
PURPOSE: To facilitate hands-on science field trips for grades K-6. The instructor will gain experience and knowledge of botanic garden education programs with a special emphasis on plant-based learning for informal youth programs. The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is a specialized area of the Education Department that focuses on the development, delivery and evaluation of educational programs for school students, pre-K through 12th grade.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

REPORTS TO: Manager, School and Youth Programs
SUPERVISES: N/A
COOPERATIVE RELATIONSHIPS: Other Center for Teaching and Learning program areas, Visitor programs, Horticulture, Custodial Services
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Available to work 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, January – April. A combination of plant or environmental science knowledge and its application in informal education/museum settings. Comfortable teaching outdoors. Knowledge/familiarity with inquiry-based teaching methods. Experience working with students grades K-6. Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Must work well with a diverse group people. Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
