Research Experience for Undergraduates
Conservation and Land Management (CLM) Internship
TITLE: Fall PreK - 12 Grade Student Field Trip Programs Internship, Joseph Regenstein, Jr. School of the Chicago Botanic Garden (unpaid)
PURPOSE: To facilitate hands-on science field trips for grades K through 12. The intern will gain experience and knowledge of botanic garden education programs with a special emphasis on plant-based learning for informal youth programs. The Student Field Trips area focuses on the development, delivery, and evaluation of educational programs for school students, preK through grade 12.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Facilitate student field-trip programs on-site. Assist in the greeting of self-guided groups visiting the Garden. Assist with the preparation of program materials. Care for plant material. Work on special assigned projects. Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

COOPERATIVE RELATIONSHIPS: Other Joseph Regenstein, Jr. School of the Chicago Botanic Garden program areas, Visitor Programs, Horticulture, Custodial Services
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Must be available to work at least one day a week from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, August through December. Must be comfortable teaching and being outdoors. Experience working with students grades K through 12 is required. Should have plant or environmental science knowledge and understand its application in informal education/museum settings. Should have knowledge about/familiarity with inquiry-based teaching methods. Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Must work well with a diverse group people. Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills. Letters of recommendation are not required to apply for this position.
