Have a crush on wine? Make an evening of it at the Garden's first tasting event! In the idyllic backdrop of the McGinley Pavilion, sample wines from around the world. Indulge your senses with the range of bouquets. Light fare will be available for purchase as well as wine by the glass.

The Chicago Botanic Garden will mark World Environment Day with special programs designed to increase awareness and understanding of the Garden’s conservation work. Lab and horticulture demonstrations, hands-on activities, and a variety of displays will teach visitors of all ages how to apply conservation behaviors in their daily lives. Plastic plant container recycling will be held in Parking Lot 4 and a variety of environmental organizations will be present to interact with visitors.

A family drop-in activity tent, artist demonstrations and cash bar will be featured. Show your membership card that night and receive a Chicago Botanic Garden Art Festival poster.

Guests can stroll and shop among the 80 juried artists on the Esplanade who will be selling photography, paintings, ceramics, cement, metal, fiber, wood, jewelry, and much more, all with a botanic theme or made from plant materials. Artists will give interactive demonstrations and booth chats throughout the weekend.

Also featured at the Art Festival will be family activities.

Bring your child (and childlike wonder) and watch model sailboats race across the North Lake! Demonstrations are organized by the Chicago R/C Model Yacht Club and held at the Waterside Terrace on the Esplanade. Admire spectacular views of the North Lake and Smith Fountain as you watch the race, and learn about building and operating model sailboats.

The Fall Bulb Festival includes the bulb sale and a fall market comprised of various vendors selling things such as hand-made pottery, baked goods, honey, mushrooms, fresh produce, etc. 

The Woman's Board of the Chicago Horticultural Society presents its annual bulb sale featuring more than 200 varieties of daffodils, tulips, alliums, and other specialty bulbs. The bulbs are shipped directly from Holland, just in time for fall planting. 

Garden horticulturists and staff offer practical tips and demonstrations on bulb selection and planting. 
Visitors can enjoy a straw bale maze, gourd display and live music.

Welcome the fall season with a cold glass of beer! Oktoberfest celebrations happen throughout Europe, and the Garden will be celebrating locally.

Guests check in at McGinley Pavilion and receive a wristband, tasting glass, and tasting sheet. Breweries will pour a few different seasonally selected beers in 2-ounce tastings. Light fare and featured beer by the bottle will be available for purchase. Come to “drink in” the best of the season!

Tickets to this event are nonrefundable. Due to the popularity of this event, we encourage you to buy tickets in advance. A confirmation will arrive via e-mail once your order is received. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited. Advance tickets may also be purchased at the Chicago Botanic Garden Information Desk in the Visitor Center.
