The Illinois Mycological Association celebrates the richness of fall mushrooms in Illinois with an exhibit of 50 to 100 varieties of mushroom foraged from area forests. Members provide information and answer questions regarding mushrooms and fungi. A children's education area is available, and mushrooms, books, and t-shirts will be for sale. Mycology is the study of fungi and their use to humans as a source for medicine and food, as well as their dangers, such as poisoning or infection, and their benefits to natural ecosystems.

More than 300 flower arrangements and wreaths created by talented volunteers are available for purchase. The sale features arrangements, wreaths, bouquets, wall hangings, stationary cards, and more.
 
Volunteers designed the floral arrangements using plant materials they collected at the Garden throughout the year. Professional floral designers led the creation of each item at special workshops, allowing volunteers to showcase their unique talents and perspectives. Volunteers first hosted this event in 1980.
 
Proceeds from the Roadside Flower Sale benefit the Garden.

The Central States Dahlia Society is hosting their 81st Dahlia Show featuring exhibitors from all over the Midwest. Hundreds of dahlia blooms ranging in size from a silver dollar to a dinner plate will be judged and on display, with floral designs and photography completing the show. Dahlias are known for their bright, vibrant colors and perfect petal arrangements. Society members will be on hand to provide written information and to answer questions about dahlias.

Visitors will find competitive flower arrangement classes, horticulture classes, photography classes, and classes for children, as well as an exhibit on seed banking and conservation. More than a hundred GCA members, representing dozens of GCA clubs around the country, will compete. Exhibits will be judged, and awards presented on Friday, June 10. The six Chicago-area garden clubs affiliated with GCA are the Garden Club of Barrington, Garden Club of Evanston, Garden Guild of Winnetka, Kenilworth Garden Club, Lake Forest Garden Club, and Winnetka Garden Club.
