Thomas Nissly serves as senior vice president of finance and administration and chief financial officer at the Chicago Botanic Garden. He joined the Garden in 1995 as vice president of finance and administration. As senior vice president, he is responsible for managing all financial affairs and protecting Garden assets, as well as directing the planning, control and administration of the Garden's Finance, Information Systems, Human Resources, and Administrative Services departments. He also serves as the primary liaison to the Finance, Investment, Audit, and Personnel and Compensation committees of the Board of Directors. Mr. Nissly has more than 28 years of experience in accounting and financial matters, specializing in issues faced by nonprofit institutions. A certified public accountant, Mr. Nissly was formerly at Arthur Anderson LLP in Chicago, where he was a leader of its Nonprofit and Healthcare Industry Teams. A recognized speaker and instructor on nonprofit and healthcare business topics, he has been an instructor at Loyola University Law School and a guest lecturer at the Rush and DePaul Universities. Mr. Nissly is active in a number of civic organizations. He currently serves on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of Easter Seals DuPage/Fox Valley Region, where he once served as Chairman of the Board.
