Thomas Nissly serves as executive vice president of finance and administration and chief financial officer at the Chicago Botanic Garden. He joined the Garden in 1995 as vice president of finance and administration. As executive vice president, he is responsible for managing all financial affairs and protecting Garden assets, as well as directing the planning, control and administration of the Garden's Finance, Information Systems, Human Resources, and Administrative Services departments. He also serves as the primary liaison to the Finance, Investment, Audit, and Personnel and Compensation committees of the Board of Directors. Mr. Nissly has more than 33 years of experience in accounting and financial matters, specializing in issues faced by nonprofit institutions. A certified public accountant, Mr. Nissly was formerly at Arthur Andersen LLP in Chicago, where he was a leader of its Nonprofit and Healthcare Industry Teams. A recognized speaker and instructor on nonprofit and healthcare business topics, he has been an instructor at Loyola University Law School and a guest lecturer at the Rush University Health Masters and DePaul University Health and Public Service Graduate programs. Mr. Nissly received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Miami University. He is active in a number of civic organizations, including Easter Seals DuPage/Fox Valley Region, where he was formerly chairman of the board, as well as other affiliations.
