2011 Washington Park Farm Staff
Prior to coming to Green Youth Farm, Reneldia Gardner home schooled and tutored students. Over time, she developed a growing interest in horticulture and enrolled in Windy City Harvest's sustainable urban agriculture certificate program and completed her internship with the Chicago Botanic Garden's Fruit & Vegetable Garden. |
Billy Burdett graduated from UIC in music composition. After completing his degree, Billy was involved with beginning the Dill Pickle Food Co-op, which sparked his interest in making local and sustainably produced food more widespread in Chicago. As a result, Billy signed up for the Windy City Harvest sustainable urban agriculture program. He chose the Washington Park/Dyett Green Youth Farm site as his internship to get experience applying his newly acquired skills, to learn more about season extension, and to expand upon his experience working with youth. |
Dan Engleberg graduated from Bates College in mathematics. After college, Dan spent a year traveling, which included working on a blueberry farm in the Santa Cruz Mountains and a CSA farm in Boulder, Colorado. Dan came to Green Youth Farm because he wanted to use the knowledge he acquired working on farms to help build and develop communities in areas that are in need of accessible, healthy food. |
