Shanika’s outgoing personality and quick wit made her one of the most memorable GYF participants this season.

Devin Cato, 16, Sophomore at Dyett High School

Devin consistently came early and stayed late for work and quickly proved himself to be one of the most dedicated GYF participants.

Tatiana Coleman, 15, Freshman at Dyett High School

Tatiana was a star in the kitchen during community lunch days at the farm! Her calm presence made everyone feel comfortable.

Dwayne Dates, 17, Sophomore at Dyett High School

While he wasn’t so sure about the teambuilding exercises at the beginning of the season, Dwayne quickly became an enthusiastic participant…that is, when he wasn’t moving wheelbarrows of soil or building beds, or doing any of the more physical jobs on the farm.

Shameka Holton, 16, Sophomore at Dyett High School

Shameka’s favorite part of the farm was selling produce at the market. Her winning smile and outgoing personality made her a natural saleswoman.

Porshea Johnson, 17, Junior at Dyett High School

Porshea’s work ethic and quiet leadership really shined through this season at GYF. She was willing to do almost any task, well and with a smile!

Candice Jones, 16, Sophomore at Dyett High School

Candice was always willing to try something new, be it cooking or eating or a new teambuilder. Her positive attitude, even on the most challenging of days, helped bring everyone up!

Jazmyn Jones, 17, Junior at Kenwood Academy

Jazmyn was the only student not from Dyett High School, but that didn’t stop her from fitting right into the group. Her personality and willingness to work hard on the farm made her a great addition to the team!

Jessica Novy, 15, Freshman at Dyett High School

Jessica, one of the youngest participants at the Washington Park/Dyett GYF, quickly proved herself able to keep up with the rest of the students and never backed down. 

Victoria Richardson, 17, Junior at Dyett High School

Victoria was never shy to lead a tour, meet someone new, or engage in interesting conversations with just about anyone. She made everyone feel welcome at the GYF!

Richard Robinson, 15, Freshman at Dyett High School

Richard’s quiet presence and consistency at the farm were always appreciated by staff and students alike. His thoughtful comments and written work were a great addition to the season.

Casius Rodriguez, 18, Graduate of Dyett High School

Casius’s natural leadership ability made him a presence to be reckoned with at the farm.  He worked well with everyone, no matter which farm they were from, and we hope to see him again next year as an intern!

Shanika Sabbs, 17, Junior at Dyett High School

Shanika many times could be found doing a farm task that needed to be done without being asked by anyone. She had perfect attendance and always arrived for work 15 minutes before anyone else!

Tajuana Scarelli, 15, Freshman at Dyett High School

Tajuana was one of the hardest workers and best tour guides at the GYF this season.  She consistently showed up early for work, and continuously volunteered for extra opportunities to represent the GYF.

Jerome Scott, 18, Junior at Dyett High School

Jerome quickly proved himself to be one of the hardest workers at GYF, constantly volunteering to help with extra jobs, and always presenting himself as a model for his peers.

Troy Watkins, 18, Junior at Dyett High School

Troy’s goal for the summer was to increase his strength, and he did so by moving extra soil, carrying materials back and forth to the shed, and doing extra push-ups cheered on by his peers!
