The first season has seen many challenges and successes, including construction of 40 raised beds, planting of ornamental gardens, and construction of a cob bench. In its inaugural year the garden helped secure summer employment for 17 Dyett High School students. Future seasons will include extended school-year after-school programming, as offered at other GYF sites; 10 weeks of summer employment; and community growing space for area residents managed by GYF students. Program partners include Quad Communities Development Corporation; 4th Ward Aldermanic Offices; Dyett High School; After School Matters, Inc.; LISC; the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (ILDCEO); and the Chicago Park District.
