Option 8 — Eco-Journalism
ECO-EXPOSÉ
Create an eco-exposé (blog, magazine, and/or documentary video) exploring and explaining the eco-friendly (and not so eco-friendly) aspects of your school community.
Guidelines:
- Students are encouraged to interview teachers, students, and administrators for the eco-exposé. The more collaborative the process, the better!
- The eco-exposé may include any combination of media and must be submitted in one of the following formats:
- Print entries must be created on four, 11" x 17" sheets of paper folded in half horizontally to form an 8.5" x 11" magazine. These may be created digitally or by hand and may include any combination of original student-written articles with accompanying images. All image sources must be cited. Font size may be no smaller than 10 point.
- Documentary videos must include original student video only of no more than 10 minutes in length, and may be submitted in either .wmv, .mov, or .mpg format.
- Blogs/websites must include five to 10, student-written articles with accompanying images. All image sources must be cited.
All submissions must include:
- A title page listing the name of the school and a list of all the students that contributed to the exposé.
- A polished exposé either on CD/DVD, as a web URL (including login/password if needed), or in printed form.
- A list of any improvements to your school community (physical or cultural) that may have resulted from the eco-exposé.
