Option 5 — Satire

Green LIte

Write and perform a satirical comedy piece that challenges how "teenagers" approach environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, and environmental justice.

Premise: The complex and ever-changing relationship between humans and nature has been communicated through the artwork of diverse cultures throughout history and around the world. Options 2 through 5 challenge you to think critically about your personal relationship to nature, and then use photography, poetry, music, and comedy, to communicate how your actions and the actions of your peers reflect how modern society relates to nature.

Guidelines:

  • Entries must not target a specific individual, but should instead focus on challenging stereotypes of how "teenagers" approach environmental issues.
  • All comedy pieces must be performed and recorded by students enrolled in high school for the 2009-2010 school year.
  • Entries must be recorded and submitted in either audio (.wav, mp3, or .aiff) OR video (.wmv, .mov, or .mpg) format.
  • Performances may be no longer than 10 minutes.
