Propose and implement an idea for an original project that supports the mission of the Fairchild Challenge: To foster interest in the environment by encouraging students to appreciate the beauty and value of nature; develop critical-thinking skills; understand the need for biodiversity and conservation; tap community resources; become actively engaged citizens; and recognize that individuals make a difference. 

Guidelines:

  • Students must submit project proposals no later than November 18, 2009.
    Proposals will be reviewed within two weeks of receipt.
  • Once your proposal is approved, you must complete and submit your final product by April 14, 2010.

All proposals must include:

  • A cover page including the name of the student(s), the name of the school, and the title of the project.
  • A one- to two-paragraph summary including an explanation of how the project serves the mission of the Fairchild Challenge.
  • A list of supplies that will be needed for the project including the approximate cost of the supplies.
  • A detailed description of the final product that will be submitted to the Garden for judging.

Entries due April 14, 2010
For individuals or groups
Maximum of 2 entries per school
Maximum points: Up to 300 (points will be assigned based on project difficulty)
