You are looking at the English Walled Garden’s Pergola Garden, featuring a covered walkway draped with wisteria. As you move to the right, you will visit the Checkerboard Garden, combining green and white foliage in a checkerboard design to represent the British affection for topiary. You’ll also catch a glimpse of the secluded Courtyard Garden and the Cottage Garden that includes a mix of flowers, vegetables and herbs. Other garden rooms include the Vista Garden with its pool framed by views across the lake and the Formal Garden with symmetrical beds spilling over with daisy-type flowers. Each of the six garden rooms in the English Walled Garden, designed by John Brookes, typifies a different historical period or tradition in British garden design.
