The Chicago Botanic Garden takes a bow (wow) for 2008 with the sixth annual Reindog Parade on Saturday, December 6. For three very special hours only, dogs are allowed in the Garden. Dogs and owners celebrate the holiday season in a parade led by Santa. The route takes dogs and their owners throughout 12 gardens (there is a short and a long route). Reindog festivities include judging and prizes in these categories: • Best Overall Holiday Costume • Best Puppy (1- yrs) in Costume • Best Senior (10+) in Costume • Best Horticultural Interpretation • Best Owner Look-a-like Experts and vendors will be on hand and include a variety of pet supply shops and animal advocacy groups. Learn about local not-for-profit organizations making a difference in the lives of Chicago's dogs. Tickets go on sale October 22. Registration is $14 in advance (through December 5 at 5 p.m.) and $19 at the door. Spectators pay for parking only. You may preregister in person at the Garden. Forms are available online or on flyers at various vets, pet stores, and dog day care centers. The parade will be held regardless of the weather. All dogs must check in on the day of the event, and no dogs may enter the garden once the event ends. There are no refunds. You may also visit the spectacular Wonderland Express exhibit, although dogs may not join you in the Regenstein Center. Please note that this is the ONLY day all year that you can bring your dog to the Chicago Botanic Garden. |
Parking fees apply for nonmembers.
