Who participates? Students from Chicago Public Schools who are currently in grades 7, 8, and 9; have an interest in nature and science; a desire to spend their summer outdoors exploring the Garden’s 385 acres of plants; and can commit to attending the program every day, Monday through Friday, for four weeks during the summer.

Monday through Friday, students are picked up at designated locations on one of two free bus routes provided by the Garden (see sidebar) and dropped off at the Garden by 9 a.m. They leave the Garden at 3 p.m. each day and are dropped off at the same location at which they were picked up, free of charge.

Applications are due by the end of April.
