Science First

Who participates? Students from Chicago Public Schools who are rising 8th, 9th, and 10th graders; have an interest in nature and science, a desire to spend their summer outdoors exploring the Garden’s 385 acres of plants, and can commit to attending the program every day, Monday through Friday, for four weeks during the summer.

Monday through Friday, students are picked up at designated locations on one of two free bus routes provided by the Garden (see sidebar) and dropped off at the Garden by 9 a.m. They leave the Garden at 3 p.m. each day and are dropped off at the same location free of charge.

Applications are due by the end of April.

Science First is open to students at all Chicago Public Schools, including charter schools.
