Education
Enrich your curriculum and share the beauty of nature with your students at the Garden. Choose from a variety of programs that feature plant and nature topics appropriate for specific grade levels.
Self-guided field trips allow your students to explore while you lead them through the Garden. Science, language arts, literature, history, geography, art, and other subjects can be explored throughout the different gardens. Available year-round, Monday through Friday. Register in advance and Garden staff will be able to discuss areas suited for any curricular topic, and distance to gardens.
Guided Programs (prek, K – 5, 6 – 12)
Guided programs are led by trained volunteer facilitators to allow for a meaningful learning experience. The programs support Illinois Learning Standards in science, language arts, math, health, and social studies, and utilize active garden experiences to engage students in cross-curricular investigations.
*All guided programs may include outdoor exploration; please dress for the weather.
Explore more of the Garden on foot! Join our tour guide for an in-depth view of one of our 24 gardens. Whether it’s the Malott Japanese Garden, the English Walled Garden, or the Greenhouses, this tour will spark your students’ curiosity and increase their knowledge of the natural world.
School Programs welcomes homeschool groups to participate in our school field trip programs. We accept multiage groups, but advise you to read over our offerings and the Illinois Learning Standards covered to identify which grade level will best fit your group’s knowledge base.
