Who participates? Students from Chicago Public Schools who are currently sophomores or juniors; have a strong interest in nature and science; a desire to spend their summer outdoors exploring the Garden's 365 acres of plants; and can commit to attending the program every day, Monday through Friday, for eight weeks during the summer as well as once-a-month school-year meetings usually held on Saturdays.

Monday through Friday, students are picked up at designated locations on one of two free bus routes provided by the Garden (see sidebar) and dropped off at the Garden by 9 a.m. They leave the Garden at 3 p.m. each day and are dropped off at the same location at which they were picked up, free of charge.

Applications are due mid April.

Students who participated in our Science First program are invited and encouraged to apply as well. We are very proud of our 11 College First summer 2008 interns who came from Science First!
