Heirloom Tomato Weekend

Visitors can learn all about growing and using heirloom tomatoes—from Mexico Midget to Nebraska Wedding to Hungarian Heart—at the Heirloom Tomatoes Weekend, August 21 and 22, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Regenstein Fruit & Vegetable Garden.

Tomato tours and demonstrations, shopping for tomato products from select vendors, and specially themed activities are all part of the fun. See the many varieties of heirloom tomatoes growing in the garden; learn tomato facts and tips from signs posted throughout the garden. Visit the Tomato Discovery Carts, where you can explore the history of tomatoes, learn how to save heirloom tomato seeds, see how to preserve your tomato harvest, and investigate the many types of tomatoes that can be grown in a home garden.
