All About Peppers Weekend
August 23 and 24, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Become a pepperhead at the Chicago Botanic Garden this summer. Like peppers? Come to the All About Peppers weekend, August 23 and 24 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Regenstein Fruit & Vegetable Garden. Stuffed with growing tips, displays, select vendors, chef demonstrations, kids' activities, tours, and all ways of learning about and savoring peppers, both hot and sweet. Hot, hot, hot!

Ongoing, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- See the 24 varieties of peppers growing at the Fruit & Vegetable Garden including 'Orange Thai', 'Medusa', 'Chocolate Beauty', and 'Lemon Drop Pepper'.
- Visit the Pepper Discovery Carts and explore the many types of peppers — both hot and sweet — you can grow in your home garden. Trace the history of peppers as they’ve traveled the world. Glean tips on how to use different types of peppers and peruse the pepper resource materials. Learn the parts of a pepper and take home a pepper resource sheet with seed sources and recommendations.
- Purchase a variety of pepper products from our select vendors.
- Try peppers from mild to hot by sprinkling different powdered peppers on a sample of popcorn.
- Take part in activities especially for kids and families. Make a pepper butter mix, play a special game to learn where peppers and other vegetables come from and discover how you can add peppers to a "rainbow" for healthy eating!
- Stop by the Garden Café's ice cream cart to cool off!
