The great expense devoted to producing this glossy photographic extravaganza would have been better devoted to more complete advice on growing specific crops in the challenging climates of Florida and to editing and layout by more experienced hands. Not that the author, a professor of horticultural sciences and an extension specialist, holds back information; often he gives the impression that his knowledge is incomplete at best. This book contains some valuable data on problems unique to Florida, and some responses to them; for the same price Vegetable Gardening for Dummies, which Professor Stephens would read to his profit, covers the South and the rest of the States with an admirable thoroughness lacking in this bagatelle.
