Like any Dorling Kindersley book, this lavishly illustrated work on roses literally explodes with roses in all of their color, shape, and beauty. Nine sections make up this book, touching on the history and classification of roses as well as providing advice on growing, arranging and drying these much-admired flowers. Michael Kromer, Executive Director of the American Rose Society, calls this book in the foreword "a celebration of roses." It is indeed a celebration, for experts will not find much new or exciting here other than the wonderful illustrations bursting from every page. As a coffee table book, or for inspiration in the dead of winter, this book fits the bill. Practical reference works such as Modern Roses will answer a variety of questions that this book will not.
