This book provides an excellent opportunity to glimpse into some of the most delightful private gardens in Connecticut. Born in England, author Jane Garmey has personally chosen 28 sites across the state. These gardens largely reflect a diversity of twentieth-century styles. The most prominent landscape architects and designers over the past century created most of the gardens on many of these properties. Some gardens were the products of their owners’ creative visions. A high percentage of those selected in this work pay homage to the formal boxwood gardens of Europe. The most dramatic photograph in this special book, by John M. Hall, is of a woodland in its fall colors, reflecting the natural beauty of Connecticut.
