This book is one of several Falcon Guides designed for the wildflower enthusiast. The author, an Ozark native and an ardent conservationist, obviously knows his subject well. He has described and handsomely photographed 355 wildflowers and arranged them according to flower color and season of bloom for easy identification. Descriptions include the shape of the plant and the characteristics of the leaves, flowers and fruit. There is information on each plant's habitat and an abundance of additional commentary on related species, as well as the plant's medicinal usage, if any. In the introductory section of the book, you'll find a brief description of the Ozark region as well as basic information on plant terminology to aid in plant identification. For anyone interested in Ozark wildflowers, this is an excellent book for the purpose.
