Hostas and Other Shade-Loving Plants
paper, 144 p., $14.95
Gardening in the shade can be a difficult and frustrating experience. This book attempts to answer some questions about dealing with shade, and finding the right plants for the right shady places. With beautiful illustrations of plants and appropriate explanations, this book describes in detail a number of plants — but especially hostas. The text also explains how to prepare the soil, developing designs for shade gardening, maintenance, seasonal benefits, suppliers and societies.
I found this book very useful as I am in the process of replanting a shady area. The design for this area will include hostas, ferns, shade-tolerant trees, flowers and ornamental grasses. This is a very good book for a very definite purpose.
