This handy guide to the grounds and gardens of Cà d'Zan, the former estate of John and Mable Ringling, is a valuable source of information about a famous site, now the property of the state of Florida. The Venetian-Gothic style mansion set on 66 acres was built in the mid-1920s. It features a central courtyard, with the art museum surrounded by exotic and native trees. The design of the grounds and collection of plantings have expanded over time to reflect the interests of different periods. The formal rose garden, completed by Mable Ringling in 1913, is still a favorite of visitors, as is the Secret Garden behind the mansion. Readers still enjoy a walk through this fragrant setting. Unfortunately, the cover of this guide may be too dark in color for some to read the text.
