Appealing to the public to take steps to protect the environment, youthful author Jodi Helmer has compiled daily suggestions for participation in the Green Movement. She urges everyone to be frugal in the use of nature’s resources and points out simple ways that will ultimately make a difference. Many of her suggestions repeat time-honored practices of a thrifty housewife/husband and experienced gardener, but there are also tips for contemporary living in a computer age. Her use of a daily journal is clever: the reader is encouraged to participate, rather than be overwhelmed by a long list of activities, and since many ideas are seasonal in nature, the entries in the journal act as great reminders.
