This book is exactly what the titles says — it is a bible on fences. Everything you could possibly imagine on the topic is covered, from Robert Frost’s maxim about good fences making good neighbors to the ultimate art fence — Christo’s 24–mile fence installation in California.

While much of the text is aimed at do–it–yourselfers, anyone considering any type of fence will benefit from photographs and ideas in this text. Mortar–less walls, repairing rotting fence posts, evergreen or deciduous hedges, a decorative metal fence photo gallery, willow bent wood and wattle fences, are some of the subjects discussed and treated in the course of this work.

I really longed for some of the fences pictured more realistically but my return to reality happened to be the section of repairing rotting fence posts.
