Topiary, the clipping of trees and shrubs into geometric shapes, is becoming quite popular in container gardening. Gardeners who enjoy pushing their limits should find topiary a perfect challenge. Container Topiary, by Susan Berry and with photographs by Steven Wooster, is a great guide for creating topiary. It not only has clear instructions with illustrations but also includes an extensive list of suppliers for the forms and tools that you will need.
The book itself is quite inspirational. There are lovely photos of great topiary in fabulous gardens. Nevertheless, it makes clear that one can create topiary by simply following instructions and having that magic ingredient, patience! There is also a bibliography for those needing further details.
