Lois Ehlert.
Planting a Rainbow.
San Diego, Calif.: Red Wagon Books (Harcourt), 2003, c.1988.
stiff boards, [22] p., ISBN 0-152-04633-x, $6.95.

With her vivid colors and bold drawings, Lois Ehlert introduces little children (this book is aimed at young ones ages 6 months to 3 years) to the joys of gardening. In addition to introducing basic colors, Ms. Ehlert describes graphically a variety of flowers that are planted as bulbs and seeds. At the end of the book the plants yield a colorful rainbow in red, yellow, green and blue. This is a happy book to read and examine!
