Tim Newbury.
The Ultimate Garden Designer.
New edition, revised and updated.
London: Hamlyn, 2009.
Paper, 256 pp., ISBN 978–0–600–61987–1, $22.50.

British landscape architect Tim Newbury provides design plans and directions for creating a broad range of garden styles for the individual who wants to design her own garden. The first section covers 15 different garden styles for the ambitious designer to consider. All colorfully illustrated and in a range of sizes and property configurations, these provide a wealth of ideas. The second section contains examples of special garden features, such as interesting hardscapes and structures in the English style. The concluding directory of plants is fortunately brief, for most plants are either unavailable or unsuitable for most American climates.
